Obstetric & Neonatal Health Project

ONESim

The ONESim program was founded and is spearheaded by Dr Arunaz Kumar and Dr Atul Malhotra.

Dr Kumar (obstetrician-gynaecologist) and Dr Malhotra (neonatologist) have been operating this project for the last 5 years with programs currently running in a number of Indian states.

ONESim provides local healthcare professionals – doctors, nurses and midwives, education about dealing with complex childbirth and newborn care issues, through hands-on experience using simple simulation technology.

Through the “Train the Trainer” workshops, the ONESim program aims to empower local staff who can then further impart the training within their own workplace. The program aims to address a number of aspects, including obstructed labour, post-partum haemorrhage and birth asphyxia, which are estimated to contribute to close to 1 million deaths per year worldwide.

The ONESim program has also had the support of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and has been the recipient of a special grant from the Bill Gates Foundation. It has also received support from local doctors’ groups and community members.

If you would like to volunteer on a ONESim trip or would like to make a donation, please email us at secretary@ashacharity.org.
